What surprised me?

As soon as we got off the train, we found ourselves in a new part of Menton. I really didn´t know that Menton was such a huge city and was hiding its new, modern part. This part of the off-season has survived well and imagined how many people must be here during the summer. There are beautiful beaches, perfect terraces directly overlooking the city's interesting beach. So right after I arrived, I was struck by the fact that Menton was the big city.

Čo ma prekvapilo? 

Hneď ako sme vystúpili z vlaku, ocitli sme sa v novej časti Mentonu. Vôbec som netušila, že Menton je tak obrovské mesto a ukrýva aj svoju novú, modernú časť. Táto časť mimo sezóny poriadne žila a nedokážem si predstaviť, koľko ľudí tu musí byť počas leta. Sú tu krásne pláže, perfektné terasy reštaurácií, v ktorých jete priamo s výhľadom na more a zaujímavý ruch mesta. Teda hneď po príchode ma zarazilo, že Menton je tak veľkým mestom.

Yellow staircase

If you've ever seen photos of Menton, you probably didn't miss this staircase. Out of season, there are not many people in the old town, which allowed us to enjoy it to the fullest. These stairs lead from the beach path to the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel. If you get to it, you will find yourself right in the heart of the old town.

Žlté schodisko

Ak si niekedy videl fotky z Mentonu, tak zrejme tam nechýbalo toto schodisko. Mimo sezóny sa v starom meste nenachádza veľké množstvo ľudí, čo nám umožnilo si ho vychutnať naplno. Tieto schody vedú od cesty pri pláži až ku Bazilike Sv. Michaela Archanjela. Ak sa k nej dostaneš, ocitneš sa priamo v srdci starého mesta.

Old Town

Lots of tangled alleys that are sometimes so narrow that we wondered if they would lead anywhere. We still got them out of the old town. They are amazing not only for how narrow they are, but also for the color of the houses that give them a touch.

Staré mesto

Množtvo poprepletaných uličiek, ktoré sú niekedy tak úzke, že sme rozmýšľali či sa nimi niekam dostaneme. Stále sme sa nimi dostali až vonku zo starého mesta. Sú úžasné nie len tým aké sú úzke, ale aj farebnosťou domov, ktoré im dodávajú šmrnc.

Sablet Beach

One of the most beautiful places that will show you the view of the old town from afar. We really liked it here, although we know that in summer it will probably be the most popular beach for tourists.

Jedno z najkrajších miest, ktoré ti ukáže pohľad na staré mesto zdiaľky. Nám sa tu veľmi páčilo, aj keď vieme, že v lete to bude zrejme najobľúbenejšia pláž pre turistov.

Cementiere du Trabuquet

We really didn't plan to go to the cemetery. But as we climbed the streets of the old town, we got here. You don't have to go all the way up, there is also a place along the way that is a great "view point" to the sea and part of the city.

Naozaj sme neplánovali ísť na cintorín. No pri stúpaní po uličkách starého mesta sme sa dostali až sem. Nemusíš chodiť úplne hore, cestou je aj miesto, ktoré je skvelým "view point" na more a časť mesta. 

Rue Saint Michel

This street is full of souvenirs, citrus shops, interesting restaurants and is also great for a walk. Here you will find typical citrus products that Menton is proud of, as well as many other beautiful corners.

Táto ulica je plná suvenírov, citrusových obchodov, zaujímavých reštaurácií a tiež skvelá na prechádzku. Nájdeš tu typické výrobky z citrusov, ktorými sa Menton pýši, ale aj množstvo iných krásnych kútov.

Promenade by the sea

It doesn't matter which one you choose, but a walk by the sea is always worth it. In the new part, we loved the beaches in the old town and the sea. In the end, we decided to sit in one of the restaurants, which was a great French - Italian connected and offered a delicious menu. Menton is a place where you can find the best of France and Italy and at the same time have a lot of fun.

Promenáda pri mori

Je jedno ktorú si vyberiete, ale prechádzka pri mori stojí vždy za to. V novej časti sme sa kochali plážami v starej časti mestom a morom. Nakoniec sme sa rozhodli sadnúť aj do jednej z reštaurácií, ktorá bola skvelým francúzsko - talianským spojením a ponúkala chutné menu. Menton je miesto, v ktorom nájdete to najlepšie z Francúzska a Talianska a pritom sa poriadne zabavíte.

After this one day full of beautiful experiences, we thought we could stay in Menton and see a little more. Well, maybe we can do it next time. If you want to enjoy the Côte d'Azur or Menton itself, come here out of season. Well, if you want to enjoy it a bit more, come here during the citrus festival "Fete du citrone", which is usually in February and it must be a great experience. At the end of January, we saw everything they were preparing for this festival and I will tell you, it is really beautiful and huge.

Po tomto jednom dni plnom krásnych zážitkov, sme si hovorili, že sme sa mohli v Mentone ubytovať a pozrieť si o čosi viac. No možno sa nám to podarí nabudúce. Ak si chceš užiť azúrové pobrežie či samotný Menton, príď sem mimo sezóny. No ak ho chceš zažiť o niečo viac, príď sem počas citrusového festivalu "Fete du citrone" ktorý sa koná zvyčajne vo Februári a musí to byť skvelý zážitok. Už koncom Januára sme videli čo všetko na tento festival chystajú a poviem vám, je to naozaj krásne a obrovské.
