Rome is a place where history lays on every corner. If you are interested, you will spend an hour at each building and even a month will be not enough for you to go through it. Rome has well-known but also lesser-known places, and we tried to find both during our visits.

Why? Because we have had enough churches, museums and nice historical monuments for a while.

So how do you balance your trip and not be overwhelmed by history?

See the main sights you want to see. Ours included:

Rím je miestom, kde na vás z každého rohu číha história. Ak sa o to zaujímate, strávite pri každej budove hodinu a nepostačí vám ani mesiac na to, aby ste ho prešli celý. Rím má známe, ale aj menej známe miesta a my sme sa počas našich návštev snažili nájsť oboje.

Prečo? Pretože sme už na chvíľku mali dosť kostolov, múzeií či pekných historických monumentov.

Ako si teda vyvážiť svoj výlet a nepresýtiť sa históriou?

Pozrite si hlavné pamiatky, ktoré chcete vidieť. Medzi tie naše patrili:

Colosseum - this monument surprised us the most with its magnificence and pomp. However, there was no "wow" moment from the inside and if we didn't have an entrance fee of 2€ per person, we would be completely disappoint to not go inside.

Koloseum - táto pamiatka nás najviac prekvapila svojou veľkoleposťou a pompéznosťou. Zvnútra však už "wow" moment nenastal a keby sme nemali vstup za 2€, tak by sme celkom ľutovali, že sme šli dovnútra.

Angel Castle - this castle is full of tourists from the bridge, where the whole castle was perfectly visible. We found a quiet place on the side, where there was also a smaller thrift market and we could fully enjoy the atmosphere.

Anjelský hrad - pri tomto hrade sa fotí plno turistov práve z mosta, kde dokonalo vidno celý hrad. My sme si našli pokojné miesto z bočnej strany, kde bol aj menší trh s oblečením a mohli sme si naplno vychutnať atmosféru.

Spanish Steps - here you can catch either an extremely large number of tourists and you will quickly get over any desire to stay in this place, or you will find a better time when it is worth not only to take pictures but also to stay here for a while.

Španielske schody - tu môžete vystihnúť buď extrémne veľa turistov a rýchlo vás prejde akákoľvek chuť ostať na tomto mieste, alebo vystihnete lepší čas, kedy sa oplatí nie len odfotiť, ale chvíľku tu aj zostať.

The Trevi Fountain - is one of the most famous and I don't think there is a time when there are no people here. We were here day and night and it was crowded with people, but it was definitely worth the beauty.

Fontana di Trevi - je jednou z najznámejších a myslím, že neexistuje moment, kedy by tu neboli žiadny ľudia. Boli sme tu cez deň aj večer a ľudmi sa to tu hemžilo, no za tu krásu to určite stálo.

Pantheon - if you love art, you know there is the Tomb of Raphael. The Pantheon surprised us with its size inside and out and the atmosphere it offers.

Panteón - ak milujete umenie, viete, že sa tu nachádza hrobka Raffaela. Panteón nás prekvapil svojou veľkosťou zvonku i vnútra a atmosférou, ktorú ponúka.

Piazza Navona - is a place for a walk and at the same time, you can see the souvenir shops that are located here.

Piazza Navona - je miestom na prechádzku a zároveň si môžete pozrieť aj obchody so suvenírmi, ktoré sa tu nachádzajú.

And we came across these places by chance:

Altar of the Fatherland - here you will find a military museum, which is for a fee, but you can reach the terraces of this beautiful museum for free and enjoy views of Rome.

A na tieto miesta sme natrafili náhodne:

Altar of the Fatherland - tu nájdete vojenské múzeum, ktoré je za poplatok, ale zadarmo sa dostanete na terasy tohto krásneho múzeá a môžete sa pokochať výhľadom na Rím.

Square 4 fountains - this square offers 4 corners with beautiful fountains and it is also one of the most popular tourist destinations

Námestie 4 fontán - toto námestie ponúka 4 kúty, v ktorých sa nachádzajú krásne fontány a je to tiež jednou z vyhľadávaných turistických miest

Forum Romanum - we saw this place only from a distance when we walked from the Colosseum and if you are not a lover of history, it will be enough for you

Forum Romanum - toto miesto sme videli len z diaľky, keď sme kráčali od Kolosea a ak nie ste milovníkom histórie, úplne vám to postačí

And places to relax:

We made the most of the alleys that were close to our Airbnb as well as various hidden restaurants and cafes.

Well, you can visit the area of Trastevere. There are various cafes, bars and nice streets. It does not live here all year round as it does on summer days, so during your trip you can at least go for a walk here.

No a miesta kde si oddýchnete:

My sme najviac využívali uličky, ktoré boli v blízkosti nášho airbnb a taktiež rôzne skryté reštaurácie či kaviarne.

No ak chcete zaujímavé miesto, môžete si pozrieť oblasť Trastevere. Tam sa nachádzajú rôzne kaviarne, bary a milé uličky. Nežije to tu po celý rok tak, ako v letných dňoch a preto počas svojho výletu sem môžete zájsť aspoň na prechádzku.
