Gozo - our vacation story

Right after our trip to Malta (read here) we went to the second island of Malta, Gozo. We traveled through the island of Malta by bus, about 40 minutes. We arrived in the north of the island and there we had to change to the ferry. We took a ferry across the sea to Gozo, where we had booked our room in the town of Marsalforn.

We chose this place based on various reviews, but today we already know that we would choose another. The whole of Gozo is an island where there is a lot of peace and not promoted nightlife like in Malta. So it is a very quiet place to relax, but if you like an adventure rather stay in Malta.

As we have read, we can only confirm that Gozo is beautiful for its beaches and nature. It's really breathtaking when you see the beautiful untouched nature. It will tell you that you will find a really great peace on this island.

After arriving in Marsalforn where we went to stay. We lived in a dead-end that was not connected to the main one. This means instead of a 3-minute trip to the beach, our trip was about 10-15 minutes.

Marsalforn is a small town, with a variety of restaurants and a small beach. The day we came here, we were completely disappointed because of the huge waves and the beach was slowly flooded with water. But when we saw that this phenomenon was also filmed by the locals, it was immediately clear to us that it wasn´t common.

As we thought, the next day the sea was completely calm and clean, the beach turned out from under the water and we even started to like it here. The people in this city are very nice, even though, as is the case in the southern states, they have the usual siestas when you are can´t eat in a closed restaurant.

Well, if you go there during dinner, we´re sure you will love it. Nice service, good food, and occasional misunderstanding of the pronunciation of English can cause you to order a "pint" instead of "wine" and thus get a big beer. But we just laughed at things like that and we knew we would have a smiling experience.

No ak tam zájdeš počas podávania večere, určite si to obľúbiš.

Our steps on Gozo, Marsalforn did not end. Not far from us were the "Salt Pans" or salt pools, which were created a long time ago and were used to collect salt from the sea. Swimming is prohibited at these Salt Pans, but you will also find those that are not intended as monuments and you can calmly soak your feet there.

On the way to Salt Pans, we also stopped at Qbajjar Bay Beach, which we found and was really amazing. It had a very great atmosphere thanks to the surroundings that completed it. There was a small snack bar on the beach and a small truck with food near the road.

The next day, our journeys led to the city of Victoria, which is the capital. Here you will find a lot of history, a few souvenir shops and the bustle of the city. It's a nice trip that won't take you much time, but it will show you the history.

Na druhý deň naše cesty viedli do mesta Victoria, ktoré bolo niekedy hlavným mestom. Tu nájdeš množstvo histórie, pár suvenírových obchodíkov a ruch mesta. Je to pekný výlet, ktorý ti nezaberie veľa času, no ukáže ti históriu.

From this city, we moved by bus to one of the most beautiful hidden beaches San Blas beach. An incredibly steep path leads down to this beach. Later you will go over the rocks until you reach a beautiful beach with a minimum of people. Despite the difficult journey, it was really worth it and I would have done it again.

We ended our penultimate day in Gozo with a visit to perhaps the most famous beach Ramla Bay, which was a big disappointment for me. A beach was full of tourists, where we could not even move and at the entrance to the water, we had cut feet from boulders, which were literally everywhere in the water. Our disappointment was not improved by the beautiful yellow sand for which this beach is known. We spent about 20 minutes in this place and spent the rest of the day in our small town where we lived.

The way back was in the spirit of many transfers to the airport. But this whole vacation was definitely worth it. Since we did not have time to cross many places, we definitely plan to return here and visit many other beaches or places.

No celá táto dovolenka stála určite za to. Keďže sme mnoho miest nestihli prejsť, určite sa sem plánujeme vrátiť a navštíviť mnoho ďalších pláži či miest.
