Na tomto úžasnom ostrove som sa rozhodla stráviť tohtoročnú dovolenku a myslím že som spravila dobre. Preto by som vám o ňom rada povedala viac. Kréta je najväčší ostrov Grécka a 3 najväčší ostrov v Stredomorí. Je tu všade prítomna história, ktorú môžete vidieť najmä v väčších miesta. Keďže tento ostrov bol pod nadvládou najprv to boli Benátčania a neskôr Turci ktorý tu boli necelých 400 rokov a počas 2 sv. vojny tu tiež mali základňu Nemci. No ešte pred týmito národmi od 6. storočia pnl osídlili tento ostrov Minojci, veľmi vyspelý národ, po ktorých sa tu našli vykopávky či už palác Knososs alebo ďalšie paláce a aj pozostatky z ich života ako veľké nádoby zvané tiež pythosy.
Ak ale nieste práve nadšenci histórie, určite si tu tiež nájdete svoje. Kedže tento ostrov ponúka naozaj všetko od pláži až po hory. Nie len tak je tento ostrov považovaný za raj nedotknutej prírody a divočiny.
On this amazing island, I decided to spend this year's vacation and I think I did it well. Therefore, I would say about them more. Crete is the largest island of Greece and 3th largest island in the Mediterranean. There's the lively history which can be seen especially in larger sites, as this island was under the rule initially the Venetians and the Turks later that there were here for 400 years and during the 2nd World War, there also had a base Germans. But before these peoples are from the 6th century BC the island was inhabited by the Minoans, very mature nation, after which the excavations are found either Knososs palace and other palaces and the remains of their lives as a vessel called also Pythos.
But if you are not just history buffs are also sure to find your as this island offers really everything from the beach to the mountains. Not only that, the island is considered a paradise untouched nature and wilderness.
Kam cestovať za plážami
Keď sa sem chystáte na letnú dovolenku tak ako ja, tak najviac pláži sa nachádza na severe ostrova. Sú tu rušnejšie strediska na východe ako Malia ,Hernissos alebo Ag. Nikolaos, kde je vždy veľa turistov a bohatý nočný život. Na západe sú naopak menej rušne strediska ako je Kavros alebo Bali. Takým stredom je stredisko Rethymno kde nenájdete priveľa turistov na pláži, ale napriek tomu v meste je vždy rušno.
Na juhu Kréty nájdete skôr menšie zátoky ale zato nie menej malebné ako je Loutro, Plakias alebo Matala beach.
Where to go for beaches
If you are planning here a summer vacation, as I do, so most beach are located to the north of the island. There are busier resorts in the East as Malia, Hernissos or Ag. Nikolaos, where there is always a lot of tourists and a good nightlife. In the west, by contrast, less than the bustling resort city of Kavros or Bali. Such a center is the Rethymno where you find not too many tourists on the beach but still in the city is always busy.
In the south of Crete, you will find rather small cove but it is not less picturesque as Loutro bay, Plakias or Matala beach.
Vnútrozemie
Na druhej strane ako som vravela nájdete tu aj hory. Kedže Kréta je celá viacmenej hornatá krajina, nájdete tu priesmyk Samaria, ktorý je dlhy 16 km a je vyhlásení ako najkrajší v celej Európe a prístupný celý. Odporúčam sa však vybrať na tento výlet s cestovkou, pretože cesta priesmykom je jednosmerná a tak by ste sa nevedeli vrátiť späť k svojmu autu. No po celom ostrove je veľa vrchov ktorými sa môžte kochať počas celej cesty. Je tu približne 56 vrchov vyšších ako 2000 metrov čo je naozaj dosť na taký ostrov.
Inland

Čo určite musíte ochutnať
Na Kréte je niekoľko špecialít, ktoré ale tiež môžte poznať z tureckej kuchyne. Veľmi obľúbený je tu tradičný gyros, ktorý vám pripravia v každej reštaurácií. Ďalej sú to souvlaki, moussaka, kalamáre, grécky šalát a tzaziky. Ďalšou špecialitou je krétsky med s chuťou tymiánu. Mne náramne chutí a je o trošku sladší ako ten normálny. Tiež tu na každom kroku uvidíte raki, je to ich špeciálna pálenka a môžte ju nájsť v rôznych príchutiach. Inak za jedlo v reštaurácií dáte približne od 25 - 40 € pre dvoch, vo fastfoodoch za gyros zaplatíte asi 3€.
What you need to taste
In Crete are a few specialties, but also that you can know it from Turkish cuisine. Very popular is traditional gyros that you find in every restaurant. Then there are the souvlaki, moussaka, calamari, Greek salad and tzatziki. Another specialty is the Cretan honey with thyme flavor. I like it a lot and it´s little bit sweeter than the normal. Also here you will see on every step raki, that is the special alcohol drink, and you can find it in different flavors. Otherwise, a meal in a restaurant you pay around 25 - 40€ for two, in fastfood you can pay for pita gyros around 3€.
Ako cestovať po ostrove
Je tu celkom rozvinutá autobusová doprava no najmä na severe krajiny. Preto nie je problém ísť autobusom. No ak by ste chceli cestovať niekde na juh, alebo si zrobiť roadtrip, tak určite jedine autom. Požičať auto nie je problém v niektorej z celosvetových pobočiek ako je Hertz, Avis, Europcar, ale objednajte si ho ešte pred cestou, v hlavnej sezóne je ťažšie nájsť voľné auto. Autom sa ľahko dostanete skoro všade a cesty sú tu veľmi dobre. Vo vnútrozemí si dajte pozor, cesty sú dosť úzke a tak pred každou ostrejšou zákrutou zatrúbte.
To travel around the island
There's quite a developed bus service but especially in the north, so there is no problem to take the bus. But if you would like to travel somewhere to the south or take a roadtrip so you can go only with car. Rent a car is not a problem in one of the world's affiliates such as Hertz, Avis, Europcar but place your order before you travel in high season is difficult to find a free car. By car you can easily reach almost everywhere and the road here are very good. Inland careful roads are quite narrow and so before any sharper cornering beep beep.

Heraklion- hlavné mesto a zároveň najväčšie, kde nájdete aj známe značky obchodov ako Zara či Tally Weil
Knossos - je neďaleko Heraklionu, bájny palác pod ktorým sa vraj nachádza bludisko v ktorom je uväznený Minotaurus
Ostrov Dia - nachádza sa iba 12 km od hlavného mesta. Rýchlo sa sem dostanete lodou a tiež sa k nemu viaže veľa báji
Gramvousa - ostrov s krásnou lagúnou a časť svojej svadobnej cesty tu trávili aj princ Charles s princeznou Dianou
Ellafonissi- menšie ostrovčeky ku ktorým sa viete dostať cez plytčinu ktorú tu more vytvára a nájdete tu pláže s ružovým pieskom
Spinalonga - ostrov ktorý slúžil ako kolónia pre malomocných a nachádza sa tu tiež pevnosť ktorá nebola nikdy dobytá
Psichro- malebná dedinka pri ktorej sa nachádza jaskyňa Dikteon v ktorej sa údajne narodil Zeus

Heraklion- capital and largest, featuring well-known brand shops such as Zara and Tally Weil,
